Meet Dr. Lina
Dr. Lina Thakar, BAMS, is a licensed Ayurvedic physician from India, and Founder and Director of AYURVEDA IN PITTSBURGH, LLC. She specializes in an Ayurvedic approach to health that guides you to live your life in harmony with nature - an Integrated Mind & Body Wellness Program for the Restoration of Health & Imbalance Prevention. In her native country, India, she received her Bachelor in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery at the world renowned Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, one of the oldest Ayurvedic colleges in the world, located at Pune University.
Dr. Lina has been offering private, personal consultations and instruction since 1996, designing individualized programs that include dietary recommendations and lifestyle changes, massage or Pancha Karma, detoxification therapies, and stress management techniques based on Ayurvedic principles, to achieve optimal body-mind wellness.
In addition to her popular Ayurvedic cooking classes where students learn about healing herbs, spices and self-healing cooking methods, Dr. Lina offers an ongoing monthly Learning Exchange that enables clients and the public an opportunity to delve more deeply into Ayurvedic philosophy and practice. Additionally she offers quarterly lectures based on the seasonal aspects of Ayurveda.
For professional massage therapists, Dr. Lina offers her Abhyanga Massage Course, which provides in-depth instruction in the understanding and practice of Ayurvedic massage for cleansing and longevity. In addition to offering professional Ayurvedic massages, Dr. Lina teaches Self-Abhyanga (self application of oils) as a stress management tool.
Dr. Lina believes that “One who enters into the heart of an individual with compassion and light of knowledge and tries to free them from all the physical and psychological problems is a true Ayurvedic physician.”
Dr. Lina lives in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Girish, and is the proud mother of 17 year old son, Sarvesh, and 17 year old stepson, Justin.
