SEPTEMBER 14th |
| Features Triceps First: Engaging the arms before the upper back & Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi |
| 2-4:10 pm |
Asana Class teaching proper arm/triceps actions. Students often find it difficult to fire the triceps muscles on the upper arms without first gripping in their shoulders, upper back and chest. This series will progress from non-weight bearing to weight-bearing asanas to reveal the mystery of the triceps. Having the "triceps key" unlocks the thoracic (chest) cavity and opens wide the door to all of the inversions and backbending postures. |

Discussion of Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. After a 10 minute break Sara will lead a group discussion about the more subtle limbs of yoga, samyama. You may enjoy tea and a light snack during the discussion. Suggested Reading: From B.K.S. Iyengar's Light on The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali the introduction to the Vibhuti Pada and sutras III.1 through III.8. And from his The Tree of Yoga, read the chapters entitled The Sap, The Flower and The Fruit from section 2.
