Pittsburgh's Iyengar Yoga Studio

Our Staff

Yoga on Centre is the home of Western Pennsylvania's only certified Iyengar Yoga  teachers. Four of our six teachers are actively involved in the Iyengar teacher assessment process and have passed vigorous testing at various levels of the certification process. All of our teachers are dedicated to extensive training in Iyengar yoga and continue to improve both their individual practice and their teaching methodology. We work together as a team with a unified, systematic process to help our students progress developmentally through the many aspects of yoga practice.

Our Students currently range in age from 7 to 84, but most of our students are between 35 and 65. Our students are people who want to feel better and learn how yoga can improve their lives. It is our goal to help you find the appropriate level class so that you may begin properly and develop at an appropriate pace. You will not find yourself in an intimidating class of gumbies, as most of our students are not here looking only for a physical fitness experience.


Our Pledge

No one is too stiff, too out of shape or too old to begin Iyengar yoga. Problem solving is the basis of our teaching methodology. Call Sara at the studio to discuss your goals and condition, and she will help you set a course of action for you to develop at your appropriate pace. All that is required is a willingness to learn and to face your challenges steadily, one step at a time.  

Our Facilities
Our spacious studio on Centre Ave (aka Penn Circle South) is sunlit and finished with environmentally friendly, bamboo floors.

Accessibility
We are, of course, handicap accessible.

Parking
Parking is not difficult. We have both metered on-street parking (2-hour meters) and a metered lot behind our building. If you allow a minute or two extra time, there is also free parking within a blok or two walk.

Yoga Props

We are equipped with all the yoga props you'll need to assist you regardless of your level of fitness or abilities. The Iyengar method teaches proper alignment and form using blocks, straps and other "props."

Private Sessions
We provide one-on-one private sessions that help speed recovery from injuries and teach supportive, healing sequences for various ailments. Among our private clients improving their conditions we have patients with parkinsons, M.S., stroke, head injury, osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and neck, shoulder, knee and back injuries.

Many students also supplement their group classes with regular or occasional private sessions to deepen their study or to target their specific goals. To schedule an appointment call (412) 363-YOGA (9642).
